One-off consultation sessions and brief work
Sometimes, in the period after the birth of their baby or the toddler years, parents have a feeling that things are not what they expected/are not right but are not clear why they feel like this or where to start to change things for the better.
Perhaps you experienced difficulties in your journey to conception, pregnancy, birth, or in the postnatal period and you wonder if these difficulties are still casting a shadow on your developing relationship with your baby/child and, maybe, with each other as a couple.
Perhaps you have experienced mental health difficulties in the past and worry that these are resurfacing with the challenges of early parenting and the potential impact of this on your baby/young child.
Perhaps you have anxieties about your baby/young child’s development that others have reassured you about, but they remain and are getting in the way of building your relationship with your baby/young child.
I can meet with parents individually or together, with/without their baby/child, for one or two consultation sessions, to figure out together what the main issues are and how best to address them.
In some cases, these one or two sessions will be enough to bring clarity and a way forward for parents and their baby/young child, without further input from me. In other cases, I will support parents to find the right help from other health professionals and/or peer support or community organisations.
Medium and longer term support
If, after an initial one or two sessions, we decide together that further sessions with me would be helpful, I can offer this support at a time interval (weekly, fortnightly, monthly) that works for you. I can also offer a ‘top-up’ or ‘check-in’ session at an agreed interval if you feel our work together has reached a natural pause, but you would like the security of a future session booked in before bringing the work to a close.
